EKU Men’s Tennis Earns Two Wins Against Butler And Lindsey Wilson

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team (6-3, 0-0 ASUN) earned two wins, beating Butler (2-5, 0-1 Big East) by a score of 4-3 and sweeping Lindsey Wilson (0-1, 0-0 MSC), 7-0 on Saturday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center. The Colonels surpassed their win total from last season when they beat Butler. EKU earned their first sweep since April 20, 2018 against Austin Peay.
 
At the start of the match, Moritz Mayer and Mario Monclus Martin earned the win in doubles, finishing 6-3 on court two. At the No. 1 spot, Fernando Bulnes and Evzen Holis won their doubles match by a score of 6-4, giving the Colonels the doubles point. This is the first time Butler lost the doubles point this season.
 
Mayer dominated in singles play, earning a straight-set victory from the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-2.
 
On court three, Bulnes took the win in his singles match in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
 
Holis clinched the match for the Colonels from the No. 2 spot in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
 
To begin the dual match against Lindsey Wilson, Mayer and Monclus Martin won their doubles match at the No. 2 spot with a score of 6-1. Bulnes and Holis, who remain undefeated in the doubles action, beat the No. 9 pair in the NAIA from No. 1 court, 6-3. J.Anurag Reddy and Kristoffer Stahlbrand earned the win from the No. 3 position, 6-3.
 
On court four, Mayer earns another point for the Colonels in straight sets, finishing 6-0, 6-3
 
Monclus Martin won his singles match from the No. 1 spot against Jan Silhavy, who is the No. 7 singles player in the NAIA, 6-4, 6-2. Holis clinched the win for the Colonels from the No. 2 court, 6-4, 6-3.
 
Bulnes won his second singles match of the day on the No. 3 position, 6-1, 7-5.
 
Ryan Kitchin won his first career Division I singles win on the No. 6 court, 6-3, 6-2.
 
On the No. 5 court, Paul-Antoine Brazet earned his third singles win of the season in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.
